The Gallery at Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the 3rd annual “Pointless Sisters” quilt show from March 7 to April 27. Described as “Not your grandmother’s quilt!” each unique piece will stir your interest and change your notion of quilting. Members of the group use a variety of non-traditional quilting techniques to produce stunning and innovative fiber arts.
The Pointless Sisters is an art quilt group whose members’ quilts have been shown nationally and internationally. They operate under the auspices of the Santa Rosa Quilt Guild, www.santarosaquiltguild.org/ . The thirty members explore art quilt techniques and challenge each other annually to produce quilts with a common theme. Featured in this show are quilts from two 2013 challenges entitled, “Interpreting Red” and “In the Style of…,” quilts inspired by other artists. Another highlight is “Laguna Watershed,” a collaborative environmental quilt, which benefits the Laguna Foundation.
The opening reception is Sunday, March 9, 2-5 pm and is open to the public. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet the quilters and learn more about their techniques. The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and at OCA performing arts events. Admission is free and donations are appreciated. Location: 3850 Doris Murphy Court (Graton Rd. and Bohemian Hwy.), Occidental 95465, 707-874-9392.
