Wildwood Celebrates Its 10th Annual Men’s Festival ‘Cosmic Campout’
The Wildwood Retreat Center is hosting its 10th Annual Men’s Festival startingThursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20, 2015 at its facility in the hills near the Russian River.
The event, now in its tenth year, has a reputation for creating transformational experiences and forging connections between loving men in an awe-inspiring natural setting.
“The Men’s Festival has always been kind of like summer camp for grown ups,” says John Keathley, the president of Wildwood’s board of directors. “So this year we decided to really play that up with our Cosmic Campout theme. We’re creating a great space for men who love men to be playful and let their inner rascal out.”
This year’s workshops include enlightening touch offered by Kirk Prine of Flesh & Spirit, chakra cleansing with Michael Sigmann of Men’s Inner Journey, an exploration of our gifts as gay men with author Raymond L. Rigoglioso, a photo safari with photographer David LaFlamme, plus many more surprises and opportunities for touch to be announced. The Men’s Festival will culminate in a Saturday evening poolside cocktail party followed by dinner, a cabaret show, and dancing late into the night with DJ Justime of Comfort & Joy.
Double rooms with private baths are available in the guest house or participants can go glamping in a platform tent outfitted with padded cots, linens, and towels. The campground has shared bathing facilities with hot and cold running water. Campsites are available at a discount for participants who want to pitch their own tent. Local area residents who do not need lodging can also register at a discount. Registration for the festival includes hearty meals prepared by the resident chef.
Wildwood, located near Guerneville, California, is comprised of meeting rooms and lodging on more than 200 acres adjacent to Austin Creek State Park. In addition to the breathtaking views from its mountaintop retreat center, visitors will encounter amazing plant specimens, including an albino redwood tree, as well as creature comforts like a swimming pool, hot tub and far infrared sauna. The setting and its rich history as a place of healing for gay men has been known to have an almost magical effect on visitors.
“I’ve been attending events at Wildwood since 2005,” says Keathley. “What hooked me then continues to bring me back—Wildwood’s unique gift as a retreat from the hectic pace of modern life that’s always full of amazing, fun, and heart-centered gay men.”
