FL Man Charged With Anti-Gay Mass Shooting Threat

Gary Carnivele January 7, 2023

The Tallahassee Democrat reports:

A Winter Park man who admitted posting an image of a semi-automatic rifle with threats to kill gay people in a mass shooting at Florida State University was arrested by the FBI.

Sean Michael Albert, 19, was arrested Tuesday on a federal charge of making an interstate communication to threaten to injure another person, according to court records. During a hearing Wednesday in federal court in Orlando, U.S. Magistrate Judge Embry Kidd ordered him to be detained until trial.

The criminal complaint says that on Dec. 16, the FBI in Orlando got a tip about a threat made several days earlier on Discord, an instant-messaging and social-media platform popular among gamers and also members of the alt-right.

CBS News reports:

The criminal complaint states a threat against gay people was posted on the social media platform, Discord, on December 13th by someone with the username “BloodStainedSand#0088″.

A screenshot included in the complaint showed an AR-15 style rifle and included an FSU campus address with the date and time of 1 p.m. Dec. 17 and the text “100 (expletive) Will die, Cya there!”

FBI agents state Albert flew to Washington, D.C. on Dec. 16 and that they confronted him after he returned to Florida and landed at the Orlando airport on New Year’s Day. The criminal complaint also referenced a previous interview with the FBI in 2021 and prior statements about gay, black and Jewish people.
