Presley, Perkins, Lewis and Cash Are Coming Back to Santa Rosa!6th Street Stages Million Dollar Quartet March 29 – May 4, 2024

Gary Carnivele March 16, 2024

After its resounding success in 2019, 6th Street Playhouse is reprising  Million Dollar Quartet. The hit Broadway musical, based on true events, was written by Colin Escott & Floyd Mutrux and will be directed and music directed by Steven Lasiter, who also plays Johnny Cash. It runs March 29 to May 4, 2024 in the GK Hardt Theatre.

On a cold December night in 1956, fate brought the Age of Rock n’ Roll’s hottest musicians together at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee for a matchless event that would go down in history. Rockabilly guitarist Carl Perkins was recording with session pianist Jerry Lee Lewis and their music producer, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Sam Phillips, when Elvis Presley and then Johnny Cash found their way into the recording studio. What followed was an impromptu jam session that crowned them “The Million Dollar Quartet.”

Million Dollar Quartet captures the contagious spirit, freewheeling excitement, and thrilling sounds of the once-in-a-lifetime event where four of music’s best talents came together. It is a fascinating tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations that is both poignant and funny.

“…a rousing piece of Americana and a tour de force of iconic early rock ’n’ roll… do not miss this show.”

~ Barry Willis, Aisle Seat Review (2019)

Steven Lasiter, who is reprising the role of Johnny Cash, is directing and music directing Million Dollar Quartet. He played “The Man in Black” in the MDQ National Tour and was in 6th Street Playhouse’s 2019 production. You’ve seen him in Always, Patsy Cline, The Buddy Holly Story, My Name Is… Johnny Cash, and Lost Highway.

“Hello again Santa Rosa! Jenn and I are so happy to be back at our favorite spot, 6th Street Playhouse and bringing this show back after 5 long years. It’s going to be a rocking good time with local favorites as well as talented friends from out of town bringing you this electrifying story! We love this theatre, this community, and this show. So, come on down to 6th Street and rock and roll with us!”
