The Michigan Advance reports:

State Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Bloomfield) has emerged victorious in a four-person race which will more than likely determine who will fill U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens’ empty congressional seat come 2027. The Associated Press called the race for Moss at 9:31.

As a safe blue seat, the Democratic nominee is likely to prevail in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. Troy Mayor Ethan Baker was the sole Republican candidate on the ballot, and will face Moss in November’s general election.

A state lawmaker first elected to the state Legislature in 2015, Moss is the first openly gay member of the Michigan Senate and its only Jewish state senator. If he prevails in November, Moss could also be the state’s first openly LGBTQ+ representative.
