50th Anniversary Celebration for Petaluma Library

Help us celebrate the Petaluma Library’s 50th anniversary at our Fairgrounds Drive location

Throughout the day: a scavenger hunt, time capsule creation, special Petaluma History Room displays, and more. Dress like it’s 1976! 

11:00 – 2:00: Photo booth  

1:00: Commemorative Welcome program

1:30:  Recognition of the late Library Commissioner Paul Heavenridge and volunteer Gerry Groves

2:00: History of Libraries in Petaluma with historians John Sheehy, Harlan Osborne, and architect Mary Dooley 

3:00: Los Gu’achis band and refreshments

Aguacate Music for Kids
Aguacate Music for Kids shares songs in English and Spanish that inspire kids and their families to build healthy habits, turning daily routines into musical moments of joy and connection. For grades K-6. 

📍Locations: Cloverdale, Petaluma, Northwest, Rohnert Park Cotati, Sonoma Valley, Windsor, and RoselandDidgeridoo Down UnderThe Didgeridoo Down Under Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, art, puppetry, comedy, character building, storytelling, and audience participation. For grades K-6. 📍Locations: Healdsburg, Central Santa Rosa, Guerneville, Cloverdale, Northwest Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park Cotati, Sonoma Valley, Windsor, and Roseland

Slow Stitching
Learn to hand-sew, using basic mending stitches. Bring something to repair or hem, or use our sample fabrics to practice. Participants will receive a small sewing kit to use at home. Grades 7-12. Make your own plushie bag charm using fabric and other embellishments to take home soft stuffed creations to hang on a bag or anywhere else you’d like. Grades 7-12.
