Chelsea Manning’s Lawyers Demand her Release, Decry ‘Punitive’ Incarceration

Lawyers for Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning on Wednesday filed a motion for her release, saying her continued incarceration for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury is unlawful. The motion, filed in the Alexandria, Virginia-based federal district court for the eastern district of Virginia, says that Manning’s “incarceration is not serving its only permissible purpose”—to coerce her testimony. Marathon Runner to Make History as First Trans Woman to Compete in a US Olympic Trial

A 29-year-old marathon runner will be the first out trans woman to compete in a US Olympic trial. In Atlanta on February 29, Megan Youngren and 62 other women will compete for a spot on the US Olympic team. The winners at the trials will represent the US in the Summer Games in Tokyo later this year. Gay teenagers Aren’t Being Tested enough for HIV, Study Finds

A study of gay, bisexual and questioning teenage boys in the United States has revealed that the majority have never had a HIV test. Researchers surveyed nearly 700 boys aged between 13 and 18 and found that less than one in four had ever had a HIV test, Healthday reports. They also asked the boys about their sexual activity and history and found that just one third of teenage boys who have had sex without a condom had taken a HIV test.
