Pioneering Lesbian and Civil Rights Activist Phyllis Lyon Dies at Age 95

Founding San Francisco Bay Times contributor, pioneering lesbian, and civil rights activist Phyllis Lyon has died at age 95, according to Bay Times columnist Kate Kendell, who was mentored by Lyon and served as the former executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Lyon died on the morning of Thursday, April, 9 of natural causes. Lyon was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 10, 1924. Study Investigates if COVID-19 Came to CA in Fall 2019

Researchers at Stanford Medicine are working to find out what proportion of Californians have already had COVID-19. The new study could help policymakers make more informed decisions during the coronavirus pandemic. The team tested 3,200 people at three Bay Area locations on Saturday using an antibody test for COVID-19 and expect to release results in the coming weeks. West Hollywood’s High COVID-19 Rate

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Los Angeles County, the City of West Hollywood continues to have the highest rate of infection of any city countywide.  According to the Los Angele Department of Public Health, as of April, 2 there are 68 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in West Hollywood. Florida Gay Police Officer and ‘Protector of the LGBT Community’ Dies from Coronavirus

An “out and proud gay law enforcement deputy” from Florida who died of complications from coronavirus is being remembered by as a “protector of the LGBT+ community”. Deputy sheriff Shannon Bennett was 39 when died on April 3, just a week after testing positive for COVID-19. He had left work on March 23 feeling unwell, and went to the hospital the following day where he was tested for coronavirus.
