Majority of female athletes have no problem competing against trans women in sports, study finds

A study has confirmed what we all already knew – that the majority of female athletes have absolutely no problem with trans women competing in women’s sports. The study, conducted by one of Australia’s leading universities Monash University, found that less than a quarter (24 per cent) of women believed “trans athletes have an unfair advantage when they play on a female sport team”. Australian politicians are lining up to back a bill that would allow trans women to be banned from female sports – including the country’s prime minister Scott Morrison. One in three LGBT+ Brits abused by their family, disturbing report finds

One in three LGBT+ people in Britain have been abused by their relatives, a study by Galop has found. The LGBT+ anti-abuse charity found that of the 5,000 people surveyed, nearly one third (29 per cent) had experienced abuse by a relative, most often their own parents. Galop reported that the abuse ranged from verbal harassment to threats of homelessness and physical violence. Five per cent of respondents had been subjected to conversion therapy “through a family member attempting to change, ‘cure’ or suppress their sexual orientation or gender identity”. Murder arrest after two gay men found ‘mutilated’ in own homes in suspected anti-gay killings

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after two men were killed in Sligo, Ireland with an apparent homophobic motive. The Irish Examiner reports that a man in his twenties was arrested on Wednesday morning (13 April) in connection with the deaths of Michael Snee, 58, and Aidan Moffitt, 42.
