An Uzbek LGBT+ activist who was attacked with a baseball bat has finally been released from hospital, only to be placed under immediate house arrest. Miraziz Bazarov, 29, was rushed to hospital in March after masked thugs ambushed him outside his home, leaving him with a smashed femur and serious internal injuries. White House will ‘fully enforce’ civil rights laws to protect trans Americans from state laws

The White House is preparing to confront the wave of transphobic legislation proliferating in at least 33 states. A total of 253 anti-LGBT+ bills have been introduced in the current legislative session, 124 of which are explicitly anti-trans. Sixty-six are focused on sports, 33 on access to healthcare, and 14 on bathroom and locker room access. Tiara Banks, a Black transgender woman, has been shot to death aged 24. Banks was killed in the West Pullman neighbourhood of Chicago on Wednesday (21 April), the Human Rights Campaign said. Her tragic death is at least the 16th known violent killing of a transgender or gender non-conforming person in the US this year.
