Today, LOGO announced the launch of it’s LGBT-focused 2016 election coverage with a digital series hosted by celebrated LGBT advocate and social media star, Raymond Braun. The announcement includes Braun’s sit down interview with Chelsea Clinton at the DNC (watch above), which centered on her her parents views on LGBT rights and her role as an ally. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood, one of the first recorded transgender riots in United States history. In a recent NPR story, it was called “the transgender community’s debut on the stage of American political history” by Susan Stryker, one of the directors of the 2005 documentary Screaming Queens: The Riot at Compton’s Cafeteria. ABC has renewed The Real O’Neals, the sitcom about an Irish Catholic Chicago family with a gay son, for a second season despite the efforts of right-wing groups that had denounced the show as anti-Christian and excessively sexual. One Million Moms, a project of the American Family Association (an anti-LGBT hate group), had urged sponsors to pull their advertising from the show because it “ridicules people of faith,” and the Catholic League had condemned the show even before it premiered in March, objecting particularly to gay journalist Dan Savage’s involvement. Logo announced a series of new documentary films that showcase topical social issues and illuminate untold stories of LGBT individuals overcoming incredible odds.   The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced nominations for the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards and EastSiders: The Series was included in the Outstanding Daytime Digital Drama Series category. Called “Funny and Heartbreaking” by Entertainment Weekly, the critically-acclaimed LGBT series premiered its first season on Logo in 2012 and was subsequently picked up for DVD and VOD distribution by Wolfe Video. LGBT television network, Here TV has announced the premiere of its first original game show, Modd Couples. The show, hosted by Emmy-nominated Here TV personality David Millbern and comedian Olivia Harewood, features two couples – one gay and one straight – battling it out over three rounds to win fabulous prizes.
