An unofficial Atlanta Pride party ended in tragedy as a man lost consciousness and died. The man died while attending a party at BJ Roosters, a gay bar on Cheshire Bridge Road, that stretched into the early hours of Sunday morning (October 11). He was pronounced dead 8am at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta Police told theWXIA-TV network. After consuming ecstasy, the man was found in the club’s basement unconscious. Sanay Martinez, a trans student from Louise, Texas, has been kicked out of her school until she abides by the male dress code. Two Lawsuits Challenge New Virginia LGBTQ Rights Law

A wedding photographer and a group of several Christian institutions filed two different lawsuits against Virginia officials Monday over a new law that bans discrimination against the LGBTQ community.  The lawyers representing the plaintiffs argue that the law violates their First Amendment rights and forces them to “abandon and adjust their convictions or pay crippling fines.”  The law, titled the Virginia Values Act, went into effect on July 1 and prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in housing, public and private employment, public accommodations and access to credit. Sexual, Gender Minorities much Likelier to be Crime Victims

The first study of its kind found that people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer or gender non-confirming are nearly four times as likely to be victims of violent crime than those outside such communities.
