On Tuesday, August 26th, at 6:30 pm, anyone interested in the league, seeking more information, or ready to sign up is invited. More than half of citizens in China believe LGBTQ+ people should be treated with dignity, which flies in the face of some of the country’s restrictive laws. Responding to a survey on attitudes towards LGBTQ+ people in China, 53 per cent said queer people should be accepted in society. Saint Lucia High Court Decriminalizes Same-Sex Conduct

In a landmark victory for human rights, Saint Lucia has decriminalized consensual same-sex conduct. The High Court’s decision strikes down laws that criminalized intimacy between same-sex partners, which are discriminatory and inconsistent with international human rights standards. Until this ruling, Saint Lucia’s Criminal Code punished “buggery” and “gross indecency” with up to 10 years in prison. Although rarely enforced, this vague law and similar ones in other Caribbean countries enabled discrimination and legitimized social stigma and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. Germany’s parliament banned the Pride flag. It backfired spectacularly.

Germans turned out in huge numbers for Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Pride celebration on Saturday, a rebuke to rising far-right anti-LGBTQ+ activists who have cast a pall over many of this year’s commemorations of the Stonewall Riots and the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. The turnout was also a warning to German lawmakers hoping to assuage far-right voters by dialing back their support of the LGBTQ+ community. Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funded queer-inclusive shows, is shutting down

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) shared the news today that it would be slowly shutting down following the Trump administration’s defunding of public media. The corporation was responsible for providing funding to NPR and PBS, which were known to fund LGBTQ+ projects such as Intersex Justice, Mother Witt, and Queering the Map. Earlier this month, Congress approved the “Big, Beautiful Bill” that slashed funding for CPB by $1.1 billion over the next two years. The Senate Appropriations Committee’s fiscal 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (Labor-H) appropriations bill entirely excluded funding for public media for the first time in over 50 years. Remembering Wallis Annenberg, lesbian philanthropist who did much for the LGBTQ+ community

Wallis Annenberg, the Los Angeles-based philanthropist who died Monday at 86, is being remembered for her generosity to arts, culture, and wildlife. But most obituaries are not mentioning that she was a lesbian — albeit semi-closeted — and how much she did for LGBTQ+ and HIV and AIDS charities. An exception is a Substack column written by L.A. journalist Karen Ocamb, who was in a relationship with Annenberg for two years. How the Trump administration is greenlighting discrimination against LGBTQ+ federal employees

This week, the Office of Public Management (OPM) issued a memo urging federal agencies to “robustly protect and enforce” federal employees’ right to engage in religious expression in the workplace. This right includes efforts of employees to persuade others of the correctness of their religious views, encourage them to pray or attend religious services, and display religious items, such as crosses and religious posters, in the workplace.
