A new UCLA study finds that 27 percent, or 796,000, of California’s youth, ages 12 to 17, report they are viewed by others as gender nonconforming at school. The study also assessed differences in mental health among gender nonconforming youth and gender conforming youth in the state and found no significant difference in the rates of lifetime suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts between gender nonconforming youth and their gender-conforming peers. San Diego LGBT Pride has announced that due to the success of this year’s Pride event, they are able to donate $104,182 of the proceeds back to 51 LGBT-serving organizations. Each year Pride works to return proceeds from our annual Pride weekend to the LGBTQ community. Over the years, San Diego Pride’s community contributions have well exceeded 2 million dollars, which have been distributed to dozens of organizations through Pride Community Grants, sponsorships, and event support. Ed Lee,  the first Asian American mayor of San Francisco, died early Tuesday after a heart attack.
