Florida medical board votes to ban gender-affirming care for transgender minors

After five hours of tense testimony and protests, the Florida Board of Medicine voted Friday to start drafting a rule that would bar all minors in the state from receiving puberty blockers, hormone therapy or surgeries as treatment for gender dysphoria. Phyllis Frye’s status as the “grandmother of the transgender legal rights movement” was always partly the handiwork of her stalwart support system, second wife, Patricia “Trish” Dooley Frye, whom she was wed to for 47 years. Irish lawmakers are set to make transgender people a protected class in the country, making it easier for anyone who targets them to be charged with a hate crime. In a historic first, LGBTQ Americans will be on the ballot in all 50 states

For the first time in the nation’s history, Americans from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will have a chance to elect an LGBTQ person to public office. Young gay couple die by suicide in Armenia ‘because of intolerence’

A young gay couple in Armenia tragically took their own lives because of “intolerance towards them”, according to an LGBTQ+ group. The couple, reportedly named Tigran and Arsen, posted a series of Instagramphotos of themselves on Thursday (20 October) before their tragic deaths. The photos showed the two kissing and appearing to show off engagement rings. “Happy ending. The decisions about sharing the photos and our next steps were made by both of us,” the harrowing caption read. Transgender businesswoman buys Miss Universe pageant for $20M

A Thai businesswoman and transgender advocate bought the Miss Universe Organization for $20 million, making her the first woman to own the global beauty pageant in its 71-year history, her company announced Wednesday.  Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip, the CEO of the Thailand-based media company JKN Global Group, is a reality TV star in her home country, where she has appeared on local versions of “Project Runway” and “Shark Tank.” She also helped establish Life Inspired for Transsexual Foundation, a nonprofit transgender rights group. Same-sex marriage is now legal in all of Mexico’s states

 Lawmakers in the border state of Tamaulipas voted Wednesday night to legalize same-sex marriages, becoming the last of Mexico’s 32 states to authorize such unions.
