HRC uses Grindr to target Washington’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner power crowd

As Washington’s political and media class descends on the capital for White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend, the Human Rights Campaign has a message for some of them on Grindr: “F*** Around and Find Out.” The LGBTQ+ advocacy group launched a geofenced ad campaign Friday and Saturday around the Correspondents’ Dinner and a Grindr-hosted party in Georgetown, targeting users who open the app near the weekend’s most visible gatherings. GLAAD president slams FCC crackdown on trans media

The president and CEO of GLAAD has called out Brendan Carr and the Federal Communications Commission for their inquiry on trans representation in media, saying it’s causing “harm [to] LGBTQ Americans”. “Parents should absolutely have a say in what their kids watch, and parents already know that seeing an LGBTQ person on screen or in real life does no harm,” Sarah Kate Ellis of GLAAD said in a statement on 22 April. “What does cause harm is government overreach. Library board members refused to ban a book about a trans boy. The county fired them all.

Botswana officially removed its anti-sodomy law from its Penal Code

Botswana’s anti-sodomy law has been officially repealed. Section 164 of the Southern African nation’s Penal Code used to ban sodomy and carried a possible seven-year sentence with it. But in 2019, the country’s High Court ruled unanimously that the law was unconstitutional. “Human dignity is harmed when minority groups are marginalized,” wrote Judge Michael Leburu for the court at the time. “Sexual orientation is not a fashion statement. BRITAIN: HIV+ “Grindr Rapist” Gets Life Sentence

The Telegraph reports: A rapist who deliberately infected multiple boys and men with HIV has been jailed for life. Adam Hall was convicted of raping five victims aged as young as 15 having met them on Grindr or at bars in Newcastle-upon-Tyne between 2016 and 2023. Hall, 43, also had consensual sex with victims without protection.
