Earlier this year, a group of 47 anti-LGBTQ+ organizations launched a new campaign to end marriage equality in the U.S., demanding that the Supreme Court overturn Obergefell v. Hodges. European Parliament adopts measure to ban conversion therapy

The European Parliament voted in favor of a ban on conversion therapy this Wednesday. The demand is now being sent to the European Commission for a response. The move comes after the European Citizens’ Initiative successfully petitioned the European Parliament to take up the issue. Starting in 2024, the ECI gathered over 1.2 million signatures from EU citizens to ban conversion therapy. Botswana officially removed its anti-sodomy law from its Penal Code

Botswana’s anti-sodomy law has been officially repealed. Section 164 of the Southern African nation’s Penal Code used to ban sodomy and carried a possible seven-year sentence with it. But in 2019, the country’s High Court ruled unanimously that the law was unconstitutional. “Human dignity is harmed when minority groups are marginalized,” wrote Judge Michael Leburu for the court at the time. “Sexual orientation is not a fashion statement. Green Party presidential candidate posts extreme antisemitic & transphobic image to social media

Cynthia McKinney, who was a member of Congress and the Green Party’s 2008 presidential candidate, posted an antisemitic and transphobic infographic to social media that claims Jewish people are “behind the rise in transgenderism.” The image shows a rainbow-colored Star of David with pictures of several trans rights leaders and points out that they’re Jewish, including NCTE founder Mara Keisling and GLSEN director Eliza Byard, who isn’t transgender. A new poll shows – like many recent polls – that the public has turned largely against transgender people’s rights.  The poll from the liberal publication The Argument found broad opposition to transgender rights among U.S. registered voters, with only around a third of Americans supporting letting trans kids get puberty blockers with parental consent and a doctor’s recommendation. Over half supported requiring trans people to use the restroom associated with their sex assigned at birth. And a large majority – 60% – supported trans sports bans. This poll isn’t an outlier. Indiana GOP lawmakers pass “most extreme anti-LGBTQ+ bill” as protestors explained how it’s unworkable

A bill that is being called the “most extreme anti-LGBTQ+ bill” in Indiana was passed by the state’s Senate last week. S.B. 182 contains several provisions. First, it defines sex and gender in terms of reproductive organs and applies that definition to all laws in the state. Second, it says that trans students can only use the restrooms associated with their sex assigned at birth. Moreover, it allows students to sue schools if a trans classmate breaks this rule.
