What’s Happening at The Spahr Center

Gary Carnivele August 10, 2018

New HIV Client Advisory Committee
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that they have completed the process of interviewing and appointing client to the new HIV Advisory Committee. Nine clients have been appointed to serve on the committee, as well as one alternate in case someone has to step-down. Committee members will serve one year terms of office through August 2019. Members are eligible to serve a second, one-year term by invitation of the board.
Names of the committee members are not being published at this time because of confidentiality rules, but with their permission, their names will be listed on our website soon. In addition to the nine committee members, two members of the board will serve as liaisons to the committee, Andrea Devoto and Ricardo Segura. The board is looking forward to having this channel of communication with clients, giving it a direct, formal way to hear about client needs, opinions and suggestions.
Healing Waters Rafting Trip
July was the time to go white water rafting down the American River with a fabulous organization called Healing Waters! Open to HIV clients, this annual trip is a great opportunity to get out in the wilderness and share a great weekend together. Headed by our staffers Andy Fyne and Bri Silva, this year’s trip was hot, but lots of fun! Our clients reported having an amazing time and one man said “I can’t believe I loved it so much; I want to do that every day!”
