WI Gov. Tony Evers Issues Pride Month Proclamation

Gary Carnivele June 2, 2026

Madison’s Fox affiliate reports:

The Progress Pride Flag was raised over the state capitol Monday to recognize June as Pride Month in Wisconsin. Pride Month originally began as a recognition of and tribute to the Stonewall Uprising in 1969 and has become an annual, month-long celebration and recognition of the LGBTQ community.

Monday marks the eighth and final time Governor Tony Evers hoisted the Pride Flag over the Wisconsin State Capitol building, which first became a tradition in Wisconsin in 2019 after he took office when he ordered the Rainbow Pride Flag to be flown over the Capitol for the first time in Wisconsin state history.

The Progress Pride Flag will fly over the East Wing of the State Capitol building until sunset on June 30, 2026. Additionally, Executive Order #297 authorizes state buildings and any jurisdiction of the state of Wisconsin to fly the Progress Pride Flag during the month of June.

Gov. Evers also proclaimed June 2026 as “LGBTQ Pride Month” throughout the state of Wisconsin in a video message to Wisconsinites celebrating Pride and LGBTQ kids and families across the state.

Read the full article. In the second video below, Evers says that he’s “jazzed as hell” to celebrate Pride Month in Wisconsin.
