Six women suing the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma for allowing a transgender sister to join its University of Wyoming chapter have responded to the sorority’s assertion that the lawsuit was frivolous. Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise visit on Monday to the historic Stonewall Inn bar in Manhattan, where the 1969 uprising sparked the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement and Prideevents worldwide. In doing so, she became the first sitting vice president to make a stop there. Harris first saw Christopher Park, which is part of the Stonewall National Monument established by former President Barack Obama in 2016. HBO Donates $100K to LGBTQ+ Groups in States Where ‘We’re Here’ Filmed

A $100,000 donation from HBO was announced on Wednesday for regional, national, and local LGBTQ+ organizations in conjunction with the Emmy, Peabody, and GLAAD-award-winning unscripted series We’re Here. The donations will benefit LGBTQ+ non-profits in the locations where the show recorded its third season. Lawmakers celebrated drag nun Sister Roma and declared June LGBTQ+ Pride Month at the California Capitol.  As part of an official resolution proclaiming it Pride month, the legislature’s LGBTQ Caucus invited Roma, a San Francisco Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence member. Additionally, out tennis legend Billie Jean King and out filmmaker and internet personality Eugene Lee Yang were among others honored. In a report released earlier this month, Movement Advancement Project (MAP) highlights the growing number, scope, and severity of bills that aim to prevent transgender individuals from receiving gender-affirming care. A new study published Thursday examines the lives of LGBTQ+ Americans in the South and the results might be surprising to some. The data indicates that the notion that LGBTQ+ people only live in blue states or big cities isn’t entirely accurate. Nonprofit Group Working to Help Transgender People Escape the U.S.

A newly formed group launched two weeks ago seeks to help transgender Americans escape the United States. Nearly three dozen applicants have already sought assistance emigrating from the country or obtaining asylum. In the wake of anti-LGBTQ+ laws popping up in red states nationwide, many transgender people are seeking ways to leave their homes to find a better life. This is why TRANSport hopes to step in. LGBTQ+ Youth Are Uncomfortable In Their Own Skin: Study

Data from a new study suggests that young LGBTQ+ people in America aren’t comfortable in their own skin — literally. The latest study results from the Trevor Project on LGBTQ Youth and Body Dissatisfaction are out. Researchers found that some LGBTQ+ youth are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with their bodies, with trans and nonbinary youth showing even higher rates. Also, LGBTQ+ youth who reported body dissatisfaction were significantly more likely to have attempted suicide in the past year than those who expressed being satisfied.
