Meet the Trans Adults and Their Families on a Mission to Ensure More Americans Get to Know a Transgender Person

71% of Americans say they have never met a transgender person. Well, here they are. GLAAD, in collaboration with GROUND Media, an award-winning strategic storytelling studio, launched Here We Are, a campaign that aims to combat misinformation about the transgender community. The campaign features transgender people from Ohio and Florida alongside supportive family members. The New York Times’ Bias Continues to Endanger Transgender People

One year ago a coalition of more than 100 LGBTQ organizations and notables called out the New York Times’ pattern of publishing inaccurate, biased pieces about transgender people that are regularly used by extremist lawmakers and extremist organizations in court as justification for banning trans people from accessing best practice medical care.  GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) media advocacy organization, was among those in the coalition demanding better from the Times.  To date, the coalition has not received a response from the Times. New Findings Show 60+ Anti-LGBTQ+ Incidents Targeting US Religious Institutions

Churches, synagogues, and other places of worship have found themselves in the crosshairs while in the pursuit for LGBTQ rights and safety. According to new findings from GLAAD and the Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism, from June 2022 – January 2024, researchers documented at least 66 incidents in which religious institutions were targeted over their perceived support for and inclusion of LGBTQ people in the US. Equality Texas & GLAAD Respond to School District Removing Protections for LGBTQI+ Students

Equality Texas, the largest nonprofit in Texas focused on securing full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people, and GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, are responding to proposals passed by the Carroll Independent School District (ISD) in Southlake, Texas, removing established protections for LGBTQ students. Carroll ISD joins other school districts in North Texas, including Keller, Frisco and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, in targeting transgender students by restricting bathroom access and pronoun use that aligns with a student’s gender identity. A succession of horrible killings of LGBTQ people underscores the real and deadly threats against LGBTQ people in the United States. These States are Seeking to Pass Pro-Transgender Laws Protecting Reproductive and Transgender Healthcare
