In 1991, the Filipino American National Historical Society proposed the first annual Filipino American History Month to commemorate the arrival of the first Filipinos on October 18, 1587. It became official when the 111th Congress introduced and passed a resolution in 2009 officially recognizing Filipino American History Month.  This Filipino-American History Month, GLAAD is shining a spotlight on the queer Filipino-Americans history makers!
