El Salvador is facing calls to urgently introduce a path to legal gender recognition and protection from discrimination for trans people. In February 2022, El Salvador’s Supreme Court ruled that the constitution prohibits discrimination based on gender identity, and gave the legislature one year to create a system for trans people to change their names on their identity documents. A queer mother who was forced to adopt her own child after a registrar refused to put her on the birth certificate has won her legal battle. Sarah Osborne, 48, and Helen Arnold, 48, welcomed a child together via in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) in 2014. Mother accuses school of doing nothing to stop rampant bullying that led to her son’s suicide

On February 24 this year, Arvey Malhotra, a 15-year-old student of Delhi Public School, Faridabad, India died by suicide, allegedly after  anti-LGBTQ bullying and sexual assault at the hands of classmates. The High Court of Justice for Antigua and Barbuda struck down discriminatory legal provisions that criminalized same-sex relations in a landmark ruling on July 5, 2022, Human Rights Watch said today.
