Cuba’s huge leap forward in trans rights – citizens can now legally choose gender without surgery

Cuba has taken a significant step forward in trans rights by approving a law that allows individuals to self-declare their gender without requiring surgery. Colombian man found guilty of murdering LGBTQ+ couple whose bodies were dumped in suitcases

A Columbian man, Yostin Andres Mosquera, has been found guilty of the gruesome double murder of a same-sex couple, Albert Alfonso and Paul Longworth, whose remains were found dumped in suitcases last year.  On 15 July 2024 the Metropolitan Police said Yostin Andres Mosquera, 34, of Scotts Road, in Shepherd’s Bush, had been charged with the murders of 62-year-old Albert Alfonso and 71-year-old Paul Longworth. World’s most sexually liberated cities revealed – with this UK city making the top 10

More than 100 trans inmates ‘missing and presumed dead’ after Israeli strike on Iranian prison

More than 100 trans prisoners are reportedly missing, and presumed dead, after the infamous Evin prison in the Iranian capital city of Tehran was hit by Israeli airstrikes. Police Scotland announces trans women will be searched by male police officers

Police Scotland has announced that trans women held in custody by police in the country will now be strip-searched by male officers, not female.  The decision comes over two months after the UK Supreme Court ruling. The landmark case brought by gender-critical group For Women Scotland against the Scottish government found that the legal definition of a woman excludes trans women and the protected characteristic of ‘sex’ under the 2010 Equality Act refers to biology. Starmer says bodies must ban trans people from single-sex spaces ‘as soon as possible’

Keir Starmer has urged public bodies currently not enforcing the Supreme Court’s gender ruling to bar trans people from single-sex spaces “as soon as possible”. The court verdict, handed down in April, deemed that the legal definition of the protected characteristic of “sex” in the 2010 Equality Act referred to “biological sex” only, so excluding trans people. Australian hockey stars wear rainbow socks to support gay teammate

Members of Australia’s national field hockey team have sported rainbow socks to mark Pride month – and support a gay teammate.  Davis Atkin was accidentally outed as gay to his coach at the University of Canberra by a team psychologist in 2021. The following year he told Outsports: “Last year, I was in a pretty dark place.”  The midfielder has now played for the Kookaburras 20 times, including in the 4-3 win over England in an FIH Pro League game on Saturday. Two red states have a disproportionately high number of gay porn viewers

Voters in two states won by Donald Trump in last year’s presidential election have been revealed to watch gay porn much more often than the national average, according a study by Pornhub. The porn site’s latest Pride Insights research revealed that North Dakota topped the charts in terms of hours of gay porn watched in the past year, with Wyoming not far behind. Both are notorious for implementing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and both have Republican governors. Gay couple killed in Air India crash honoured at Pride event they were due to attend

A minute’s silence was held at a Pride event to honour a gay couple who were amongst the more than 240 passengers killed in the Air India crash.  On Thursday (12 June) the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was destined for London Gatwick but crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport, plummeting from the air and into a building in the suburb of Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat state. Slovakia urged not to stop legal recognition of trans people

Europe’s top human rights commissioner has urged the Slovak Republic to reconsider a bill that would strip legal recognition of trans people from law.
