Canadians protest policy forcing the outing of trans kids: ‘This legislation is harmful’

Queer Irish people and allies form human chain to protect library from anti-LGBTQ book protest

Nebraska school district hit with lawsuit after shutting down school paper over LGBTQ+ content

A school district in Nebraska is facing a lawsuit after a high school shut down its newspaper because students produced an LGBTQ+ edition.  The lawsuit states that Grand Island Northwest Public Schools and its superintendent violated the First Amendment rights of students by axing the Viking Saga in May 2022.  The newspaper had been running for 54 years. World Athletics bans trans women from female events

World Athletics will ban trans women who have been through puberty from female competitions. The governing body’s president, Sebastian Coe, said on Thursday afternoon (23 March) that “transgender athletes should not be competing in the female category”.  Coe stated at a press conference in Monaco that trans women who transitioned after puberty “will not be allowed to participate in women’s events” from 31 March – Transgender Day of Visibility.  Current rules allow trans women to compete if their testosterone level is sufficiently suppressed. Most LGBTQ+ founders and investors hide their gender or sexuality, report finds

Finland passes sweeping reform of gender recognition law and introduces self-ID for trans people

Finland’s parliament has passed a new gender recognition law which abolishes archaic practices that require trans people to prove they are infertile.  The legislation comes just weeks after the UK government blocked Scotland’s own landmark gender recognition reforms in an unprecedented political move, by using Section 35 of the Scotland Act 1998 to do so.  Scotland’s gender recognition bill would have introduced gender self-identification in a similar way to that of Finland’s new law – and legislation which already exists in 18 other countries.  The new Finnish law – passed by 113 votes to 69 – removes the requirement for trans people to be […]

Algerian authorities launch pathetic anti-rainbow campaign in bid to ban Pride flags

Officials in Algeria, where homosexuality is illegal, are attempting to stop any use of the Pride flag, according to footage shared online. Video shared on both Twitter and Reddit depicts the police and other officials handing out information pamphlets to the public about LGBTQ+ flags and symbols.
