‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Loses GLAAD Award Nomination over Singer Allegations

Bohemian Rhapsody” won’t be in the running for an Outstanding Film GLAAD Media Award following new sexual assault allegations against director Bryan Singer.  The Atlantic published an in-depth, year-long investigative piece brought to light from four new victims who allege sexual assault and misconduct against Singer when they were teenagers in the 1990s. Singer denied the allegations and decried the story as “homophobic.” “It’s sad that The Atlantic would stoop to this low standard of journalistic integrity. Trans Artist Joins Santa Rosa Symphony Celebration of Female Composers and Artists Feb. 9 – 11

On February 9, 10 and 11, 2019, the Santa Rosa Symphony (SRS) presents “Love Letters,” celebrating women and love. Guest conductor Sarah Ioannides will lead the orchestra for this concert, which begins with Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel’s Overture in C major and ends with her brother Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, Scottish. ‘The Favourite’ Leads LGBT-inclusive Oscar Noms

Stonewall Reinforces Need for LGBTI Children’s Books Following Spate of Bans

UK-based LGBTI rights group Stonewall has reinforced the need for LGBTI-themed books for children. The group says that books highlighting LGBTI issues are essential for LGBTI youths exploring their sexuality and gender identity. The group made the statement at a time when LGBTI themed children’s books have faced considerable opposition in numerous countries, including the US and Canada. Amazon Removes LGBTI Documentary, Claims it Didn’t Meet Prime’s ‘Quality Standard’

Amazon Prime has removed the LGBTI documentary Words, by trans filmmaker AJ Mattioli. The documentary explores the question if identity, especially as it relates to LGBTI people living in New York City. It includes interviews from various LGBTI figures, including Carmen Carrera, Bob The Drag Queen, Miss Fame, and more. Words initially went up on Amazon Prime over a year ago.
