46% of Bi Women Have Been Raped in Their Lifetime, Says UN Report

A new United Nations report on violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity has found that bi women are more at risk from sexual violence. The report was presented at the 38th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva this month. It also found that LGBTQ people are generally more at risk of physical and sexual violence then their heterosexual counterparts. A California student claims he’s a victim after losing his athletic scholarship for shouting homophobic slurs at civil rights protesters. Hawaii Governor Signs Law Protecting LGBTQ Students Under Title IX

Earlier this month, Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D) signed a law that provides additional protections under Title IX for LGBTQ students. The bill, which received very little attention, provides for a state corollary to Title IX that prohibits discrimination on the basis of “sex” — including gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation — in any state educational program or activity, or in any program, including after-school or extracurricular activities, that receives financial assistance from the state. Governor Brown Signs Law Recognizing June as Pride Month

California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a law recognizing June as Pride Month in the state. Assembly Bill 2969 officially recognizes June as the month to celebrate LGBTQ culture and community. Bulgaria Recognizes Rights of Married Lesbian Couple in Historic First

A Bulgarian court has backed the right of a same-sex married couple to reside in the country for the first time in a landmark ruling. The Sofia City Administrative Court ruled that the French-Australian couple should be allowed to live in Bulgaria together, reports Australian TV network SBS. Delaware Guv Fails to Issue Pride Proclamation, Triggering Backlash

. The administration of Delaware Gov. John Carney has been receiving criticism for its handling of LGBTQ issues as of late. Gay Couple Publicly Flogged 80 Times in Indonesia for Having Consensual Sex

A gay couple were publicly flogged in the Aceh province of Indonesia earlier today. The two men were flogged 80 times for having gay sex, which is forbidden under local Muslim law. In total, 15 people were publicly punished for “inappropriate behaviour,” including infractions such as drinking or selling alcohol and showing affection in public.
