‘Surprising’ Research Finds STIs among PrEP Users not Linked to Condom Use

People on PrEP are at risk of acquiring STIs, but it is not because they’re using condoms less new research shows. Researchers found a 20% increase in the rates of new STIs among people on a PrEP trial in the Australian state of Victoria called PrEPX. Transgender People at Higher Risk of Heart Attacks, Says Study

Transgender men and women are more likely to have heart attacks than cisgender people, according to a new US study. The study found that trans men are four times more likely than cisgender men to have had a heart attack. Trans women are two times as likely as cisgender women to have had a heart attack. Pope Francis has been criticised for his “failure” to address the damage done to LGBT+ youth by the Catholic Church. Canadian Man Claims Marshalls Store Fired Him Because of His Sexuality

A gay man from Oshawa, Ontario in Canada has claimed that he was fired from his job in retail chain Marshalls because they “didn’t like” him and were looking for a reason to let him go. Michael Gale told CBC News that the company—which has stores across the United States and Canada—is “supposed to be really friendly to the LGBTQ community and it wasn’t.” He has since filed a complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario about his treatment. Doctors Achieve First ever HIV Positive Organ Donation

For the first time, doctors transplanted an organ from an HIV positive donor to an HIV positive recipient. Surgeons at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, a research university in Baltimore, Maryland, undertook the medical breakthrough. They transplanted a kidney from Nina Martinez, 35, to an anonymous recipient.
